Introduced in 1993, DoubleWood 12 uses a process designed by malt master David Stewart in 1982. To make The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE will be aged for at least 12 The aged whisky is moved to Spanish oak ex Oloroso sherry casks for a further 9 months.
The whisky is then transferred to large oak containers for 3-4 months.
Tasting Notes Color: Amber.
Nose: Aromas of sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry with honey and vanilla.
Palate: Smooth and full-bodied with a wonderful blend of flavors ~ nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and finely proportioned sherry.
Finish: Long and warm.
The whisky is then transferred to large oak containers for 3-4 months.
