A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the Merlot-based blend is aged in barrel for around 14 months before being bottled. Aromas of black fruits, liquorice and cocoa. Balanced, powerful, with a smooth finish. Jointly owned by Hubert de Bouard of the former Cheval Blanc and Admiralty Winery. A very elegant wine at this price point.
Produced in the Côte d'Franco in Bordeaux near Saint-Emilion, the widely underpriced wine comes from 30-year-old vines grown on the slopes above the Gironde River, and is composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Franc. % Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
The hand-picked wine is quite delicious, and this Merlot-based blend is aged in oak barrels for around 14 months before being bottled. Aromas of black fruits, liquorice and cocoa. Balanced, powerful, with a smooth finish.
What’s most impressive about this wine is the pedigree of the team behind it. Chateau de Francs is jointly owned by Dominique Hebrard (formerly of Cheval Blanc and Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus). A very elegant wine at this price point.
