Pairing with food: The perfect aperitif, but also with food due to its versatile properties and great balance.
It's great with charcuterie, poultry, veal and fish in sauces or stews.
Drinking temperature: 10 - 12°C
Best time to drink: drink immediately or lie down
Winery: "Located in the heart of the Macon wine region, the Saint-Germain winery is located on a hilltop at an altitude of 450 m, overlooking the Saône plain, near Aze.
The village is famous for its prehistoric caves.
The winery was created in 1921 but has been dedicated to viticulture since 1972.
Jean-Pierre MARILLIER manages Domaine on behalf of the third generation, handing it over to his son Mickaël in 1991.
Today, Mickaël manages 46 hectares of vines with his wife Marie-Pierre and Laurent Chardigny, who became their partner in 2008 to handle the vinification.
The vineyards, most of which were once part of the Cluny Abbey estate, are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture and the plots are grass-covered.
The diversity of the terroir allows the winery to grow four Burgundy grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligot and Gamay.
