The first bottling of GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength happened by accident. In 2017, while reviewing the 2007 and 2008 stocks, the distiller was so pleased with the balance and depth of the samples that he immediately decided to add a younger whiskey to the core range.
GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 04 was awarded ‘World’s Best Single Malt Whiskey’ at the 2021 World Whiskey Awards, so the bar is set very high with the launch of its seventh edition. GlenAllachie Cask Strength Batch 7 is a blend of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry, with small amounts of Virgin Oak and Rioja casks. The resulting whiskey offers notes of ripe plums, dark chocolate and sticky raisins, all combined with classic GlenAllachie honey charm.
Batch 8 was bottled at 57.2%, non-chill filtered and natural colour.
Tasting notes:
Aromas of heather honey, dried fruits, cinnamon and nutmeg hit the palate, followed by orange peel, mocha and molasses, tasting rich dark chocolate, figs and heather honey with notes of raisins, cinnamon, plums and a hint of orange peel.
